Connecticut Cottages and Gardens: Paper Chase

I had so much fun working with Connecticut Cottages and Gardens to compile wall paper collections for a feature in the April 2015 issue.

I had so much fun working with Connecticut Cottages and Gardens to compile wall paper collections for a feature in the April 2015 issue.  Each collection is based on a specific palette but combines patterns and textures to show a range of possibilities.  I hope you’ll pick up a copy and let me know what you think!

Year in Review: 2014

This past year has been an incredible journey for me.

This past year has been an incredible journey for me.  I’ve worked with great clients to complete projects that challenged and inspired me, traveled to places I’ll always remember, and been able to enjoy time with my own family.  This time of year, I like to look back at my accomplishments and think of about how my firm has grown and where I want to see it go in the future.  In 2014, I settled in to my new office space and enjoyed having such ideal surroundings to meet with clients or work on projects with my staff.

One of the ways I measure the visibility and direction of my business is by the attention my work receives from various publications.  Over the course of 2014, I was happy to have a presence in several fantastic magazines.  Here’s a recap of our press over the past year!

CTC&G 2014 Pink Aid

I was so happy to participate in the 2014 Pink Aid Fashion Show and Luncheon by Connecticut Cottages and Gardens at Mitchells of Westport.  The event, which raises money for the fight against breast cancer, includes an auction of pink chairs and other pink items donated by designers.  I contributed a chair, which you can see in the November 2014 issue of CTC&G, along with all of the other  pink items created by some very talented designers.

New England Home: In a Perfect World

I am so pleased to share with you the current issue of New England Home, which features a recent project of mine.

I am so pleased to share with you the current issue of New England Home, which features a recent project of mine on the cover and in a great editorial.  I worked with Julio DiBiase of Dibico Construction and, as always, he was able to seamlessly execute my vision throughout this 1920’s era Greenwich home.  Taking this home from its original condition to the gem it is today meant overhauling every room down to the studs before designing the ideal space for this young family.  New England Home truly showcases the home well with this editorial, capturing the sophisticated but livable environment we created.

Better Homes and Gardens: Storage

In the Spring 2014 issue of Better Homes and Gardens’ special Storage publication you can see a great mudroom project I completed for one of my clients.

In the Spring 2014 issue of Better Homes and Gardens’ special Storage publication you can see a great mudroom project I completed with Julio DiBiase of Dibico Construction for one of my favorite clients.  This mudroom is a perfect example of how a functional space can be beautiful without sacrificing utility.  This client has a strict no-shoes-in-the-house rule, so incorporating plenty of accessible shoe storage in the mud room was a big priority.  Other storage spaces allow for maximum organization, keeping the mudroom tidy and creating the perfect waystation for the family when coming and going.  Extra closets allow for convenient storage of everything from seasonal outerwear and sports equipment to camping gear and picnic accessories.  Easy to clean surfaces and materials are another key element to this mudroom.  I hope you get a chance to pick up a copy; there are a lots of great storage ideas throughout the issue!

At Home Magazine: Balancing Act

There’s a certain satisfaction that comes with seeing a design fully come together as this one did.

I was thrilled to see one of my favorite kitchen projects featured in the current issue of At Home Magazine.  This was a project I collaborated on with Sound Beach Partners.  Designing this kitchen involved first gutting and opening up the original space.  There’s a certain satisfaction that comes with seeing a design fully come together as this one did.  The resulting space is both beautiful and functional, with a layout that pleases the eye while giving the homeowners every convenience available in a working kitchen.  Amy Aidinis Hirsch Interior Design Greenwich CTAmy Aidinis Hirsch Interior Design CTAmy Aidinis Hirsch Interior Design kitchenAmy Aidinis Hirsch Interior Design

NEH Design in Depth: A New Studio in Greenwich

Last week, I was happy to host New England Home’s networking event for designers, builders, and architects at my Greenwich studio.

Last week, I was happy to host New England Home‘s networking event for designers, builders, and architects at my Greenwich studio.  We had a wonderful evening!  My friend Stacy Kunstel – talented stylist, writer, producer, and editor – wrote a great feature about this event for the NEH blog.  What a great start to a new year in my new studio.

Design in Depth: A New Studio in Greenwich

By Stacy Kunstel

Last Thursday night New England Home kicked off its networking events for 2014 in Greenwich at the new studio of Amy Aidinis Hirsh Interior Design. Having published Amy’s work before in our Connecticut edition, and having recognized her with a 5 Under 40 design award,* we of course expected it to be a wonderful space. I, for one, was unprepared for how much I absolutely loved this interior design studio. Here are a few photos of the space before it started to fill up with people.

As with her residential designs, details are so important and play such a crucial role. These cerused tables and baskets serve as stylish markers and organizational tools.

More than once during the evening I heard other designers mention how much they wished their own samples room looked like Amy’s.

Equal measures rough and glam balance the studio, such as this combination of rough-hewn beams and shimmering paper.

Feature in Greenwich Magazine

I recently sat down with Greenwich Magazine to talk about my new studio and office space.

I was recently interviewed by Greenwich Magazine to talk about my new studio and office space.  It was a great opportunity to express why this building is so special as well as the process of creating my ideal working office and I was so excited to see their feature in this month’s issue.

2013 Year in Review

This past year was a great year of growth and opportunities for my design firm.

This past year was a great time of growth and opportunities for my design firm.  I loved working on so many amazing projects and meeting clients who were able to share my vision for the ideal design for their homes.  I loved the experience of designing my new studio and offices and am looking forward to seeing what incredible things wait for my business in 2014.  I’m fortunate to have a wonderful family and talented staff to support me on this journey.

During the past year, I really enjoyed seeing my work gain the attention of different publications.  That sort of recognition is so validating.  I’ve been reflecting on the past year lately and thinking about how I continue to grow as a designer.  Looking back on the press I received in 2013 is both humbling and exciting.  Here are the various publications which featured my work last year.  I can’t wait to see what 2014 has in store for Amy Aidinis Hirsch, LLC!

The December/January 2014 issue of House Beautiful contains a great article called Kitchen Color.  Various designers, including myself, share favorite kitchen paint colors and describe why we love those colors.  It’s a great way to remind yourself that the kitchen can be an expression creativity and doesn’t need be be limited to a typical palette.
