Year in Review: 2014

This past year has been an incredible journey for me.

This past year has been an incredible journey for me.  I’ve worked with great clients to complete projects that challenged and inspired me, traveled to places I’ll always remember, and been able to enjoy time with my own family.  This time of year, I like to look back at my accomplishments and think of about how my firm has grown and where I want to see it go in the future.  In 2014, I settled in to my new office space and enjoyed having such ideal surroundings to meet with clients or work on projects with my staff.

One of the ways I measure the visibility and direction of my business is by the attention my work receives from various publications.  Over the course of 2014, I was happy to have a presence in several fantastic magazines.  Here’s a recap of our press over the past year!

2013 Year in Review

This past year was a great year of growth and opportunities for my design firm.

This past year was a great time of growth and opportunities for my design firm.  I loved working on so many amazing projects and meeting clients who were able to share my vision for the ideal design for their homes.  I loved the experience of designing my new studio and offices and am looking forward to seeing what incredible things wait for my business in 2014.  I’m fortunate to have a wonderful family and talented staff to support me on this journey.

During the past year, I really enjoyed seeing my work gain the attention of different publications.  That sort of recognition is so validating.  I’ve been reflecting on the past year lately and thinking about how I continue to grow as a designer.  Looking back on the press I received in 2013 is both humbling and exciting.  Here are the various publications which featured my work last year.  I can’t wait to see what 2014 has in store for Amy Aidinis Hirsch, LLC!

My Favorite Magazines

You hear a lot about how the digital age is taking over the publishing market, but I still love my stacks and stacks of magazines.

You hear a lot about how the digital age is taking over the publishing market, but I still love my stacks and stacks of magazines.  Pinterest may be a great way to save and organize online inspiration, but I like to do some things the old, reliable, consistent way and that usually means ripping pages out of magazines when I see something I love!

My stack of magazines consists of Elle Decor, House Beautiful, and Architectural Digest.  These staples of design inspiration are always a welcome sight in the mailbox and keep me updated on what my favorite designers and architects are doing, upcoming trends, and new products and books.  Every issue has something valuable.

Of course, there are design magazines that I follow online as well.  These would include Lonny Magazine, Interiors, and Traditional Home.  Reading online is more interactive, with links to follow and images to pin to Pinterest.  I definitely enjoy this medium, but do hope it never entirely replaces print magazines.

I also love some fashion and health magazines.  I read Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar online, both of which are great fashion resources.  I get a lot of inspiration from the world of fashion.  The health magazines I subscribe to are Shape and Women’s Health.  Both contain valuable, real-world information on a subject that is very important to me.  I also like the recipes in Women’s Health, even though I don’t often have time to try to them out.

Everyone needs a trashy, veg-out type of magazine, and for me,  Us Weekly does the trick.  I read it backwards!
